We assumed it would be fear of competition, or that their product wasn't good enough.
Our data proved that assumption is wrong.
When we surveyed over 100 African founders, only 27% said they were afraid their product wasn't competitive. They are confident in their tech.
The #1 fear, the one that truly keeps them up at night, was cited by 43.5% of founders:
"The fear that I won't have the right connections, cultural understanding, or pitching skills to sell myself and my idea."
Let that sink in.
The biggest barrier isn't technology. It's access.
It’s the fear of being an outsider. The fear of having a world-class product, but failing because you don't know the "unwritten rules" of Silicon Valley. The fear that you'll never even get in the right room to make your pitch.
This is a heartbreaking insight. It means the best ideas are often failing not on merit, but on access.
This is exactly why we built our ecosystem.
A brilliant product isn't enough. You need the playbook for how to sell it, and the network to sell it to. That's why we created the Global Launchpad (the playbook) and the GITC (the network).
We're not just building a program. We're building the bridge over this "fear gap."
